LunArt Almond Bread? — And More Q&A

It’s no secret that the upcoming launch of LunArt NFT’s on Terra is a unique project. Each piece is carefully crafted by one of the LunArt artists. including layer upon layer of intricate detail, using a distinctive colour pallet and mathematical, abstract wizardry. Each 1 of 1 example can take hours to create and will take you on a journey as you delve into the high detail of the full 8K versions.

As if that wasn’t enough, your NFT raises money for charity, via donations to Angel Protocol and rarer examples share in the revenue of the project from an ever increasing pot, created using smart contract arrangements with Anchor Protocol.

So what about the things you don’t know. For that, let’s dive into a bit of Q&A with the team.

What the hell is Almond Bread and what has it got to do with LunArt?

NameoCeo:

Our discord members will see this mentioned a lot. It’s a bit of a play on words. Almond Bread = Mandel Brot (German translation)

It’s more artistic flare from one of our team, which we ran with. It all originates from the mathematician and polymath, Benoit Mandelbrot, the person credited with the creation of the fractal geometry used in the art.

How do you go about choosing the colours that you use?

/ Do you have a colour scheme in mind when you start or do you just start with one and build off it?

Spoko:
It’s sometimes one or the other and sometimes both. That is a vague and terrible answer. But some of the pieces you start going in thinking “Green!”. And others the colours work around the shapes you create. Then the location within the set plays a part too.

JC:
I can attest to that. You can start with a colour palette in mind and then all of sudden, you find another set of colours that works. It’s what evokes an emotion. If you like it, you like it. Location on the Mandelbrot is important too. It’s a ‘choose your own adventure’ at times. Lol

I can imagine this taking hours? How long does the average art piece take to create?

JC:
Great question, I’m only speaking for myself here but to start and finish a piece takes anywhere from approx. 2 to 5 hours. Depending on lots of variables. Amount of layers, where I am and how zoomed in on the Mandelbrot I am. 🙂

There are 4 artists, right?

JC:
Correct. 4 of us

Are these pieces usually done in one sitting?

Spoko:
Generally, that is the goal. Sometimes you need to step away for a bit and later return with a fresh set of eyes. You can go down the Mandelbrot rabbit hole a bit. At times it’s best to step back for a moment and figure out what you’re trying to evoke with the piece.

How would you feel if someone asked you to make them a piece — ie gave you a mood to think of or colour pallet #askingforafriend?

Spoko:
I mean, I personally love this idea but I’ll take the idea to the team. 🙏 Great question!

Do the four of you ever collaborate? Or is it more of an individual process?

JC:
Generally these are completed individually. Sharing of our pieces and styles for feedback among each other. Collaboration is a future plan for sure

How do you title each artwork? Will you be sharing a description of each?

Spoko:
We mostly name our own, though we are constantly offering suggestions to one another. Often the name reflects the goal or ambition behind a piece.

Can we get any more info on the watermarks? Are they on the image? Are they the rarity groupings?

NameoCeo:
Beyond the rarity guide, it’s really the art that we are focused on and we want everyone who owns an Almond Bread (or any LunART piece for that matter) to really feel like they hold something they love. This is why each piece is unique and why the mint is ‘small’. The only thing that could be classified as rare is watermarks and that’s more of an accounting tool 😂🙂 for the revenue sharing.
